FORGIVE ME if this offends you but we MUST CONSIDER this: To call a social media video “persecution” is an insult to every witness who paid for the gospel with martyrdom. I don’t agree with every minister of the gospel on every issue. But disagreement does not erase a lifetime of contribution to the faith. When one of our own is publicly shamed, we don’t scatter. We don’t join the mob. Even when we disagree, we stand with family. That is what the body of Christ does. Mocking anyone for a physical condition they cannot change? Not acceptable. Not from anyone. But let’s stop fighting the wrong enemy. The enemy of Nigeria is NOT religion. The enemy is NOT the outspoken youth who are tired of watching their nation decay. The enemy is citizens married to selfish ambition and mediocrity (I mean the citizens that litter clean roads, and block the drainage systems). The enemy is the colonial masters (partially arguable because we haven’t been able to maintain the systems and structures they left behind) and puppeteers still pulling strings. The enemy is corrupt leaders who lord over the very people they swore to serve. Our hospitals are not failing because of the church. Our roads are not broken because of the church. The Redeemed Church remains one of the largest employers in Nigeria, putting food on thousands of tables. And let us never forget history: West Africans sold their own brothers and sisters to Europeans for mirrors and umbrellas. Division has always been the oldest weapon used against us. We cannot keep handing it to our enemies. Wake up, Nigeria. “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:26, KJV)
