3 things I’ve learnt: 🤍 The impact of irritants One of the most life changing things I learnt during my time in Thailand was the impact of irritant exposure. Irritants are essentially chemicals in our environments - everything from your dish washing liquid to perfumes or chemicals within your clothing. Ensuring my home environment is as irritant free as possible has been a big factor in my recovery. 🤍 TSW = thin skin One light bulb moment for me was understanding that TSW is not just the withdrawal process of topical steroids, it’s a process of regaining skin thickness. This is why it takes much longer to recover in comparison to other drug withdrawals. Our skin being so thin due to months / years of applying topical steroids and killing off the skin cells, once stopped our skin needs time to regain its thickness. This is why we are so sensitive to irritants and are susceptible to infections. 🤍 Finally, a positive mindset. There have been some really dark times in the last few years but trying to find a way to get out of those dark mindsets and keep positive has been key to my recovery. For some of us the reality is that this is not just a 2-5 year journey, this could be decades of our life. Discovering that this will likely be a really long road ahead has made me realise that I don’t want to sit in anger or sadness for the rest of my TSW journey, I’d rather find a way to see the light and live my life as full as I possibly can. Thank you for being on this journey with me and supporting myself and Karys - it means the world! I’ve got some big dreams and plans for 2025 and I can’t wait to take you all along with me 🧺🤍 #topicalsteroidwithdrawal #tsw #ctrlskin #HealingJourney
