@sophiemorrisofficial: Re-sharing this reel I posted in October because @schwartz.uk is still using sugar as its main ingredient in its Chinese 5 spice blend! Why do these huge brands hide sugar in products where it is completely unnecessary??!! Chinese 5 spice blend should not have sugar in it full stop, let alone be its main ingredient!! Hidden sugar is being added to more and more packaged foods you would just never expect, and busy shoppers who are just trying to get in and out of the supermarket quickly are buying foods with all this hidden sugar and they have no idea. With 50% off the average Irish person’s calories coming from ultra processed foods, this hidden sugar is really adding up and it is no wonder that diet-related chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease, type two diabetes and obesity have been increasing. These big food companies have A LOT to answer for… they are driven purely by profits and I believe they’re adding sugar in foods unnecessarily to make these foods more palatable and therefore make people buy more of them! It’s unethical and I will continue to call out these big food companies and increase awareness about what they’re putting into our foods…. This is also another great example that brands are not always better! Swapping to Tesco Chinese 5 spice will save you money and be better for your health. Would you ever have thought you’d find sugar as the first ingredient in Chinese 5 spice blend?! I’d love to know in the comments 👇💬 #bigfood #ultraprocessedfoods #foodlabels #cleverswaps #sophiesswaps
