if I don't want to talk to someone I hit them with repeated "oh yeah" as my only response to them talking (they usually don't ask questions which is why idc). so if I get that same energy back...

1) I experienced this for too long until I made the decision not to have ppl who are not comfortable with silence. It was always me brining interesting topics to the table and just letting go of the burden of having to keep the convo going/being entertaining changed everything.

If we aren’t friends, I simply stop trying and maybe even leave. If we’re friends, I say “would you rather just chill quietly?” OR I accept a comfortable silence.

It still happens to me a/ my partner’s parents. 12 yrs of awkward silence bc I don’t know what they want to talk about and are not inquisitive about me at all. They think I’m dumb or insecure.🤷🏽♀️

I try nowadays to have little interactions with people just bc of this. If someone is a talker though and keep yapping I don’t mind then👍 if I’m in a bad situation I will do an Irish goodbye 💀

I struggle w/ a family member, she gives one word answers & doesn't act follow up questions. genuinely she has no social skills. we're trying to reconnect & it's so hard cos we need to support her atm
