This is a post about comedy and is not relevant to whats happening on a global scale. Just naval gazing. Why is it I see so many famous male comics shout about their achievements and when I do it, I feel so self conscious of how it comes across. Are women like that in every industry? Yesterday I shared about a new YouTube series I've created, following me being the scenes whilst I'm at work. POV female comedian. And I posted a story saying, always the first to do shit, please support before some other mo fo comes along and essentially copies the idea. And then I back tracked and apologised for saying always the first. Like I went small. I'm not on tv in the UK, Im not a name here. I find it insulting when i travel and new male comics tell me what i should really try and do is an hour and take it to a place called Edinburgh lol. I manage myself and promote my own tour. I'm not included in the UK industry. I am my own comedy industry. Because I was the first female comic to start doing party anthemic shows in the UK that encouraged a diverse audinces of girls and gays. Audiences loved. Critics said I wasn't a stand up and it was a hen party. Lots of acts do these kinda shows now. I was the first to dancing on stage as audiences come in and curate specific playlists. Lots do now. I created annual valentines party, my show followed by a dj afterparty. I crowdfunded and released a comedy special on YouTube 10 years ago. I did shows looking at mental health and talking about that and body image at a time when I was told to cover up and reviews literally said it was TMI and should be saved for therapy. Open hearted shows are the norm now. As they should be. I wore make up and glam outfits when female comics were told to dress down. And you know who inspired all of this???? CHER. I used to retweet praise from audiences about my show and would get shit about it from other comics saying it was uncouth. Now it's normal to see audience reviews on posters. I would record audiences reactions to my shows and share online because the critics were not talking to the audiences I wanted. I would have sell out runs at theatres and would have to beg to get a poster of my show on the wall with the critic favourite ones, whilst having conversations with the artistic director would call me

And i think i have so much futher to go. I try and reinvent what i talk about every time i release a show. Whether other people acknowlegde it or not. You know what you do. So watch the series.
