@treehousehair: After trying lowlights with another stylist, she felt the darker tones didn’t align with her end goal and wanted to take a different approach. I explained that her natural base is the best lowlight and that we could create a more dimensional look by working with smaller sections and spacing the highlights farther apart. We focused on adding brightness around her face with fine sections, using paper-thin slices and weaves to break up any harsh lines of demarcation. For the root color, we matched her natural base and skipped an all-over gloss to keep the warmth she loves. The hair lifted beautifully on its own. A few longer layers and face-framing pieces for movement, and now she has a soft, blended blonde that allows for low-maintenance upkeep. To maintain this brightness, I’d suggest quarterly touch-ups, but if I were her, I’d probably only come in twice a year.
