Don’t really matter how energy efficient it is now. Majority of my gas bill is carbon tax and made up charges. Very little of it is the gas actually used

R2000 construction never caught on cause natural gas was cheap back in the 80s… it’s still cheaper than electric heat, but carbon tax is causing the costs to heat your home to go through the roof…

2x6 walls and inch styrofoam on outside would be close to the same. Windows will be cheaper to order

We built our house in 2018 and did the same thing. South facing glass with a big overhang, and we leave the fan on to circulate the air.

that is something the national building code could address. the city govt could change codes also to allow or force more smaller homes to be built. seems every new home in saskatoon is 1800 sq ft min

My dad built his house the same in the early eighties. We were there today and it was hot in the living room. Not even sure if the furnace ran while we were there.

I think they were called passive solar and some had timers to open the drapes during the day to let the sun in to hit a black concrete wall that would store the heat

My 1960 house has 2x4 walls. I reinsulated, added triple pane windows and 2 inch foam. Huge huge difference
