@yllaram: I took advantage of Turkish Airline’s stopover program in Isntabul and it was a super cool experience! If you decide to do this, here’s some info you need to know: 1. The stopover program is only available to travelers from certain countries, make sure to check their list before you go. 2. The airline will only cover your stays if you have booked roundtrip tickets with them. If you only have a one way flight, you can still take advantage of the free tours, but you’ll have to pay for your own stay. 3. You must sign up in advance to participate in the program, you’ll need your ticket information for this. 4. There are multiple tours of Istanbul offered based on how long your layover is. During the signup process, they’ll walk you through what’s available to you. 5. On the day of the tour, finding the meeting spot is NOT easy! You have to leave the main terminal, go past baggage claim and then walk to your right all the way to the end until you find the Tour Istanbul stand to check in! 6. Getting from the airport to the center of Istanbul takes about an hour depending on traffic (there’s lots).
