my dad is a paramedic, he was telling me a story once, he got called because someone apparently sh07 themselves, police told the paramedics to not go inside because they need to gather evidence that if possibly he was murdered, my dad didn't listen and went in anyways the apparent victim of the suic1d3 was covered with a blanket, the victim uncovered himself and pointed a gun at my dad, he tried to calm him down, and he calmed the man down, he said "Since you have a loving family I will spare you" then he pointed the gun at himself and pulled the trigger. my dad has been retired for 3 years now and he is still traumatized from that

2 weeks ago, I was first on scene (pov) to a fatal motorcycle wreck. Bystander cpr in progress. I get to the man in the ditch and barely recognize him as a fellow ff in my department.

It took my wife years to figure out why I am so cold when it comes to death and loss. She finally just stopped making comments about it. Now retired that shell is a lot thinner. I feel the pain deep.
