The only barrier for me is language. Other than that idc where my partner is from as long as they are a decent person.

My partner is Chinese, I am learning Cantonese so I can communicate better with his mum. If you love someone, the. You’re willing to learn more about their culture and you respect it.

People confuse values and culture as one and the same. I’ve met loads of people from the same culture who don’t hold the same values so it depends on the person

When you love someone you learn their language so you can communicate with their family and eventually teach future children.

This is an extremely interesting topic. So my wife is not Chinese but she’s been able to learn our culture. She’s learning Cantonese, she loves dim sum and she’s extremely good at mahjong 😂😂😂

I get it when a culture is deeply different yet it all depends on the willingness of both of learning e/o culture & being understanding. I’m 3C so basically none 😅 anybody is outside my Culture😅😅

My bf is Indian & I’m mixed background of Southern African but we realised that so many of our food and culture are the same just different names 😂 so I understand the guy who asked the question

I hear you. Respectfully though, If you like your person and your person likes you. They’ll make the effort to learn your culture. It goes both ways.

Other half is British born Chinese and we had vastly different upbringings but we share the same values. Exploring each others cultures is fun! Though Cantonese is not easy to learn 😅

I think it’s more they got to be open and respectful of learning a new culture because if I have kids, they need to know both sides authentically

Find this point of view very interesting, because if you go to your country of ethnicity you would be deemed too foreign. So maybe it’s to grasp the only connection to their culture.

My OH is Chinese and I’m South American. We have very similar values and are family focused. I say we have the best of both worlds in our relationship. The only challenge at the start was his parents,

I think it's different for different cultures but being mixed, I found there was more options dating outside of my culture/race/ethnicity coz was too short, slightly hairy, not hairy enough etc.
