if you don't get a head gasket you will leak all of your coolant either into the cylinder and misfire or it will seep into your oil and destroy your motor, kinda need headgaskets

all i know is i lost one of my cars completly bc the headgasket needed to be replaced but i didnt and the coolant leaked into the engine causing it to overheat on the highway and blow a piston and it-

The cost is that high due to parts and labor time. I suggest calling around for a quote but continued driving could cause irreparable damage to your engine costing even more if you don’t get it fixed soon.

Your head mates to the block, one or both are iron or aluminum. The gasket keeps it from leaking fluids, both coolant and oil pass through a head gasket. It’s expensive because it’s a big job, 8hrs+

it’s the gasket between the engine head & the engine block. it’s a hefty gasket to get to as you gotta remove everything cable wise to belts, drain every fluid, etc to do it properly and correctly.

Your car will overheat if you don’t fix it. On some cars it’s easy to replace. YouTube is your best friend, and if your oil is milky then you need to do it sooner rather than later.

head gasket seals the oil and coolant passages in the cylinder head from the actual cylinders. if it's blown, car will overheat use coolant and blow a sweet smelling white smoke

The engine is 2 parts top and bottom, the head gasket goes in between the top and bottom and prevents all the engine juice from leaking out( no engine juice=engine replacement)it could be a lot worse.
