@ashleyjames: Is it ok for a man to compliment a woman he doesn’t know? This is what Nick and I discussed on This Morning last week off the back of a new poll that revealed that a compliment can boost a persons entire week! ❤️🙌🏻 I think Nick raised an important point during the conversation that he would worry about complimenting a woman he didn’t know in this day and age. I do actually understand why he - and so many other older men - feel nervous to do or say the wrong thing in fear of unintentionally offending or upsetting a woman. I’m so pleased we were able to discuss this publicly because it allowed me to raise the points I did. There is a huge difference between a compliment and harassment. If a man tells me I look nice or he loves my outfit with no expectation or ill intent - that is of course acceptable. However I think men have to be mindful of the environment and overall feeling of fear that women feel living their lives. Most of us fear walking home alone, or drinks being spiked. The fear Is always there - even fearing rejecting men. Whatever your thoughts on catcalling - it’s something men don’t have to deal with because they are not objectified walking around and minding their business. That said, of course there’s a difference between a compliment and a catcall. It’s the tone and the manner and how respectful it is. I have to say that I love doing the show with Nick - he’s nothing but kind and respectful to me on and off camera him. I hope we show that you can have differing opinions and debate them out in a respectful and non aggressive manner. It makes me sad that men who have GOOD intentions feel fear - but I also think their fear is nothing compared to ours. And I think that’s why the poll showed that most women value praise from other women much more highly! Nothing makes me feel better than a compliment from another woman! I always try to compliment people I see too, even when it feels uncomfortable. Anyway, what do you guys think? Do you like compliments from strangers? #fyp #thismorning
