I buy cheaper bridles and soak them in oil overnight. they last FOREVER. I've had 2 that still look new and I've had them for almost 15 years

I 100% agree I think my show bridle was like £50/£60 and looks really nice years on, the only thing I've really spent money on (tack wise) was a custom made saddle and it cost more than the horse 😂

Totally agree and proper care cleaning and not over oiling (or oiling at all tbh- balsam only) makes a huge difference. Mid range tack is fabulous quality.

The way you take care of your tack also makes a lot of difference! Look after your things! Try to keep the leather clean and well waxed and you’re good!

Bridles and their quality is really hit and miss though. I had some cheap ones be amazing, but also some that were like cardboard. I don’t mind spending a lot on things that will last years tbh.

Agreed! Also the best saddle pads I have used are the decathlon ones! My saddle fitter is always impressed how good they are 🤣 they’re cheap so you can have a few on rotation

You also don’t need matching sets (of anything) or 100’s of saddle pads, I have 2 horses and have about 7 saddle pads between them (had horses for 20 years)

my best budget for rider is running base layers.way better way comfier way cheaper. also temu do amazing sticky seat phone pocket riding leggings and real breachers all under 30quid!

Instead of heating pads that are about £200, I sewed a holder for different shaped hot water bottles with wadding& fabric to protect her to use to help warm up her muscles ❤️

Agree, my horses have a total range depending on what they need. One has a grackle, one a cavason and one in a hackamore. Some more expensive but you wouldn’t know x

always buying second hand! got a €250 rug for €100 because it had been used for a winter. it’s in perfect condition and probably the best rug i’ve had.

I like to buy used when possible especially riding clothes and saddle pads. Really like my cavaletti saddle that's budget friendly. I do buy expensive anatomic bridles and girths (used if possible)

i dont have much money for my horses but was gifted stuban leather soft stirrup leathers. ive used mine HEAVILY for 12 years and no damage. i still use them now. i have not cleaned much if at all 😅

Expensive bridles and halters are always a pass for me. There are lots at reasonable price points and IMO it makes no sense to spend a ton for them when they’re the most likely to get broken.

I purchased a butet grackle 3 years ago now in gold for Keena, soft calfskin BEAUTIFUL and soft. Bought a flash bridle to take the flash off for Popstar in cachou(dark)not calfskin at all on padding👎
