Hey besties! Happy Independence Day, Ghana! As part of our celebrations, my boys and I decided to do something special - a traditional village-style cooking experience! Watch the full video on YouTube (link in bio) and support your bestie and boys by subscribing, commenting, liking, and sharing! I was a bit worried about taking my boys to a farm, where they’d be exposed to fire, smoke, and physical labor, but they surprised me with their enthusiasm and energy! Through this experience, my boys learned about our traditional ways of cooking and village life. It’s never too late to teach our kids about their heritage! The meal we prepared is called Akau - a delicious dish made with fresh ingredients(kontomire and Turkeyberries )from my farm! You don’t peel Cocoyam and yam when preparing Akau, you just have to wash them thoroughly. And boil. You peel as you eat the Akau with kontomire Abomu. This was so good besties 😋😋😋 Since we didn’t have a traditional Oware board, we got creative and *DUG OUR OWN BOARD IN THE GROUND*! We filled the holes with stones and played the game just like our ancestors did! Unfortunately we couldn’t get a scene from that. But we got a scene from the boys playing Ludo. Thanks for watching, besties! Happy Independence Day once again!
