👇8 things you should know about visiting the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Oman If you're planning a trip to Oman, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the must-see attractions in the country. This magnificent mosque is a testament to Islamic architecture and design and is a symbol of Oman's religious and cultural heritage. Before visiting, here are a few things you should know: 🕰️ The mosque is only open to non Muslims between 8-11am everyday except Fridays ✨ Visitors need to dress modestly to enter, men need to wear long trousers and women need to be covered from wrist to ankle including a headscarf - If you don’t have appropriate clothing you can rent it for 2.5 Omani Rial at the entrance (around £5) 👥 It’s best to visit as early as you can so you can have more time to explore and beat the crowds, most coach trips will arrive between 9:30-10am 📸 Photography is allowed but don’t take photos of worshippers or use flash, the use of mobile phones is prohibited out of respect (you can take photos, but don’t call your friends for example) 👟 Shoes must be removed to enter the prayer halls, you’re welcome to keep your shoes off for the rest of your visit and pick them up when you leave - the floor feels really lovely and cool on your feet and is kept very clean so I’d recommend doing this! 🚕 If you don’t have a car the best way to get to the mosque is via taxi, there isn’t a very convenient bus to take so keep this in mind when planning your visit. Taxis are very very easy to find in Muscat and can be flagged down on the street so don’t worry about needing to wait! 💰 Entrance is free but there are also guided tours on offer if it’s of interest, you’ll easily find a local guide at the entrance 🍽️ Regardless of time of year (e.g. Ramadan or not) you shouldn’t eat or drink in or around the mosque #oman #muscatoman #omantravel #omantourism
