people believe horses need to be dominated and shown who’s boss in order to be safe citizens or gain respect (AKA compliance) Gus and I were playing and he got a little too excited and I can’t blame him, we were having fun!! (im honestly thrilled he was having that much fun with me) that doesn’t mean it was safe for me and I needed to distance myself from that behavior until it was safe to continue BUT it doesn’t mean I get to inflict pain or hurt him to show him that was the wrong choice and that I am the one “in charge.” I simply walk away from it. mirroring is something I practice all day, every day so if I want him to disengage, I must disengage.
