Wish I could do this in my area, seems like a great way to diversify a little.

Since it’s nongmo will you go through it with a cultivator in the summer to keep the grass down or do you not have to many problems with the that?

Have you ever considered any other canning crops such as peas, green beans, etc? Or is it a crop available in your area?

How’d you get hooked up doing that? Having time for covers to grow for livestock and breaking even is a huge benefit in my opinion

So, when prices go up in the store, it doesn't trickle down to you, the farmer. I'm shaking my head. 🫤

They did that here in Ohio for a couple years about 30 years ago. It was fun to watch them harvest it.

Explain more about payment and how you’re only breaking even on it.. the equipment wear and tear figured in? If you’re not making a big profit. To me it’s not worth it

Man. 30 years ago I drove pea viner for Green Bean summers when I was in school. Great experience! Do you plant the corn or they do? You pay for seed? Fertilizer?

Thanks. My family’s farm was between New Ulm and Redwood Falls, so we would contract with Del Monte since they had a plant near us.

Does it plant like regular corn? I’ve never ran it through my corn planter but the seeds I get for my garden are shriveled compared to regular seed corn. Do you notice any singulation differences? 1/2

It’s all the sugar in the plant that makes it benefit the soil.

Thanks for sharing. Grew up helping grandparents grow sweet corn to sell. About 10 acres but always wondered about big fields and dealing with companies.
