Replying to @Miahbabyyy✨ 🎉🐾 KING CHEWY’S FREEDOM RIDE 🐾🎉 Just two days ago, I had finished walking dogs and was about to leave the shelter when I noticed a giant German Shepherd quietly lying on his blanket. I walked into his kennel with some treats, and what happened next stopped me in my tracks. He slowly lifted his head, looked at me… then stared off into the distance before laying his head back down. I could see the sadness in his eyes. 🥺 I checked his kennel card and learned he had been surrendered just one day earlier. He had been adopted from this very shelter a year ago, but was returned because he could no longer go up the stairs due to possible hip dysplasia. At 8 years old, I knew I had to share his story. That night, I shared his story, and within 24 hours, millions of you had watched King’s video. 🥹❤️ The very next morning, I got to the shelter early just to spend some time with him. I had no idea if anyone would show up for him. He stayed close to me, but every few minutes he would quietly walk away, lay back down, and rest his head on the floor. He looked so lost. Then David (@davidpperreault) arrived… And I will never forget what happened next. The moment David started talking to him, it was like watching the light come back into King’s eyes. When David asked if he wanted to go for a walk, King grabbed his own leash off the floor and started happily playing with it, looking up at David with the biggest smile. It was as if he somehow knew… “You’re here for me.” 😭❤️ King met David’s two dogs, and the meet and greet couldn’t have gone any better. Then David called his wife, Lisa, on FaceTime, and they both just knew… King belonged with them. ❤️ A few hours later, David sent me a message saying King had already gone for a ride, had a bath, met both cats with no issues, and was settling into his new home beautifully. Then he told me something that made me smile. King had already let out two deep German Shepherd sighs. If you know this breed, you know exactly what those sighs mean… “I’m safe. I can finally relax.” 🥹 Thank you, David and Lisa, for giving King the life he truly deserves. And thank you to every single person who watched, shared, commented, and cared. This second chance happened because so many of you shared his story.
