My mum's best friends took turns doing her laundry and our food while she was dying of cancer ...she slept in fresh linen and pyjamas until the day she died . Such a blessing and so loving of them.

That is brilliant advice … when my partner was sick and died, people didn’t show up … it felt worse to navigate the grief alone than the feeling of the loss itself …

Imo it’s not a factor of having experienced loss.Its what your family taught you to do by example.We always sent a meal to people grieving, new mothers, struggling.Wasnt everyone taught to do this?

This is so true. “Let me know what I can do” is very well meaning, and I never took offense at all. But one is highly unlikely to actually ask that person for a favor.

I met Nigella in the Hounslow Asda car park and she was scrapping bird dirt off her windscreen with a Tesco club card she was lovely 🥰

Did the same for a friend. Just left soup on her door step every other day when she was so ill. I never knew how much it was appreciated till she had recovered.

I discovered early on when my grandmother died the best gift you can give people is healthy home made food. When you are grieving the last thing you want to do is cook.
