As an EMT, get a DNR bracelet and a signed DNR from your doctor. Most have a cut off at the bottom to keep in your wallet/purse. If we show up and your loved ones tell us “she doesn’t want this” -

Do Not Resuscitate means to not perform treatment to someone who has stopped breathing/heart has stopped. Anything before that a DNR does not protect you.

You can “tell” anybody you want but it doesn’t matter. You need a legal document signed by a doctor saying that you both talked about it and understand what it means. And no, a tattoo doesn’t count.

EMT here. get a DNR (do not resuscitate order) it'll be in your medical chart. keep it with you. give it to friends/family. That way we follow your wishes
