It’s okay to get excited for Spring because there are plenty of ways to get an early start when it comes to growing your food. We decided to start our herb garden outdoors early and here’s how we set ours up: - Planted herbs that can handle cooler weather. Herbs like oregano, parsley, chives, mint, cilantro, thyme, sage, lemon balm, feverfew, marjoram and winter savory. - Went with Fairfield Elevated Garden Bed by MAYNE which comes with a built in water-reservoir and double wall to regulate soil temperature. - Added a DIY greenhouse cover to protect herbs from unexpected frost and colder nights. - To save on the cost of filling the garden bed, we use free materials from our garden such as twigs, small branches, dried up leaves, grass and compost. - Before we start to dig into the soil, we like to plan the spacing and organize the plant's final planting spot. It helps visually. - Our deck is the perfect location because it is closely positioned to our kitchen. Something to consider when choosing a spot for your herb garden. There are tons of benefits to growing your own herb garden. Firstly, they are beneficial in the garden for repelling unwanted pests. Most importantly, Herbs are essential in the kitchen for adding flavor to many sweet and savory dishes. Nothing beats homegrown fresh herbs! Link in the bio for more info on the MAYNE elevated garden bed. #herbs #garden #gardening #growfood #greenthumb #containergardening #raisedbeds #herbgarden #gardentok
