She is most recognized for her work on the popular musical comedy-drama Glee, which she starred in from 2009 to 2015 receiving various awards and nominations. She tragically passed away on July 8th, 2020 while out on Lake Piru with her 4 year old son Josey. Reports were that they were swimming and she told him to get back into the boat, she helped him get in the boat but was unable to get herself in and she disappeared under the water. 5 days later on July 13th her body was recovered by divers, authorities suggested that Rivera and Josey had been caught in a rip current and struggled to get back to the boat, saying that she likely "mustered enough energy to save her son, but not to save herself". The Medical Examiner concluded on the autopsy report that the cause of death was accidental drowning and that there was no evidence of injury or intoxication. #glee #nayarivera
