My husband used to spend money like crazy and I handled our accounts and paying the bills. (All our money is comingled) He was just amazed when we would get low on funds and I had to tell him not to spend anymore until the next check. I tried budgets, cash allowances for us both, etc but he would still over spend. So then I put him in charge of the bills and figuring out budget. After a few months he was like “wow. We need to really crack down and budget. Let’s try that cash allowance thing again”. Then he started researching how to pay off debt faster, tips for organizing finances, etc. 😂. Years later we share the bill paying responsibility but yeah. I just got fed up and said “here’s all our account log ins. This is what’s due in what dates. You take care of it. I’m done stressing about money. It’s your turn”. And it worked
