On big-box retailer economic blackout day I want to highlight some great Latin-owned brands within the beauty space that are doing a beautiful job of highlighting our culture. I can’t lie, I grew up feeling like my culture and luxury didn’t go together. That one dress scene in Selena stuck with me from the first time I saw it because that judgment is something that I, and so many of us, have dealt with our whole lives. An assumption that we can’t achieve what others consider to be great. It’s not true. Seeing brands be intentional about framing our culture in such a beautiful and respectful way, beyond stereotypes, has contributed to a shift in how a lot of us see ourselves and I’m grateful for that. Representation matters. Some of these brands are available at big-box retailers but I encourage you to consider buying directly from the brand when possible. Let me know if you have any other brands that need to be added to the list!💖 We are beautiful. We are essential. We are important and we belong everywhere we want to be. Including luxury spaces.
