Why We Started Bringing Durga Puja to Times Square Durga Puja has always been more than a festival to us. It is our heritage. It is our faith. It is our music, art, food, traditions and community. And most importantly, it is a celebration of Ma Durga and the divine strength of Nari Shakti. For generations, we have carried this heritage in our hearts, our homes and our communities. But we asked ourselves one simple question: Why should our culture remain inside a hall or community center when we can share it with the world? So we dreamed of bringing Durga Puja into one of the most recognized public spaces on Earth. Times Square. A place where millions of people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds come together. We wanted them to see something beautiful. We wanted the world to see Ma Durga. Not only the Bengali community. Not only Indians. Not only South Asians. Everyone. We wanted people from different cultures, countries and backgrounds to stand together, experience our traditions, listen to our music, witness our dance, learn about Durga Puja and feel the timeless message of peace, harmony, strength and unity. And slowly, a dream became a reality. What began as an idea became a community movement, powered by volunteers, artists, families, supporters and countless people who believe that our heritage deserves a place on the global stage. Every prayer. Every drumbeat. Every Dhunuchi dance. Every song. Every smile. Every helping hand. Together, they brought Ma Durga to Times Square. Today, as we prepare for the 3rd Global Times Square Durga Puja 2026, we look back with gratitude and realize that this was never only about organizing a Puja. It was about bringing Bengal’s heritage to the world. It was about taking our traditions beyond four walls. It was about creating a bridge between our ancient heritage and the modern world. And it was about showing the world that when a community carries its culture with love and pride, the world can become our stage. From Bengal to New York. From our hearts to the world. From tradition to a global celebration. Born in tradition. Now celebrated worldwide. 📍 Times Square, New York City 📅 October 17–18, 2026 Bengali Club USA Taking Bengal’s Heritage to the World #TimesSquareDurgaPuja #DurgaPuja2026 #BengaliClubUSA #MaDurga #NariShakti
