SADF key operations: Operation Savannah (1975–1976): This was one of the largest military campaigns involving South African forces in Angola. It was part of a broader conflict during the Angolan Civil War. The SADF intervened to support the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) against the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), which had Soviet backing. Operation Moduler (1987–1988): This was a significant operation during the South African Border War (also known as the Angolan Bush War). SADF forces, in coordination with UNITA, launched a series of strikes against the MPLA in Angola.
