As you can see here, my life was idyllic! I didn’t have childhood trauma, I was born and raised in south of Spain in Málaga 🇪🇸 I had a great life, great family and great friends. When I look back at my life, I remember such amazing times. I moved to England to go to university to study law when I was 18. The first 3 months were incredible, I had such a good time that I remember not wanting to go back home to Spain for Christmas! 🎄 I spent 2 wonderful weeks with my friends and family and when I returned to the cold English weather and to a ghost student town (I went back a day or two early) I suddenly felt like I was totally alone in the world. It was like I had no one (obviously not true, but it’s how I felt at the time). - 6th January 2010 is when OCD came knocking on my door and I will never forget that day… the day my brain “broke”. That’s what it felt like. I’ve seen an email from that time that said it happened on the 7th January and now I’m not sure 🧐 Constant intrusive thoughts going round and round in circles in my head for days, weeks, months, years and even longer than a decade! I was in my late 20’s when I came across a comment on Reddit that described EXACTLY what I was going through: Pure OCD. Isn’t it ironic that Reddit is what helped me get an answer when it’s also what kept me in compulsive loops for YEARS! 😅 Then came trying to get help and that was hard too! The NHS had a 10 month waiting list and Covid had hit too! I was born in 1990, OCD came into my life in 2010 and I didn’t get treatment until 2021.. The meaning behind this post is to let others know that they are not alone, there are people that understand EXACTLY what you are going through ❤️ Behind a smile can be so much pain and a battle that nobody knows you are going through! Also to let you know that it is possible to get better and recover! I HAVE! 🙌 You are not alone 🌷 #ocd#ocdrecovery #ocdawareness #pureocd #MentalHealth
