K9 Heiko, one of our retired calendar celebrities and the proud winner of the Chevy Tahoe contest, passed away on February 24th, just a few days shy of his 10th birthday. During his remarkable seven years of service, K9 Heiko was deployed over 600 times, standing as a fearless protector and trusted partner to his handler, Justin Reeves, and the entire community. His unwavering drive, loyalty, and courage were a testament to the extraordinary bond between a K9 and their handler. Justin shared a heartfelt tribute, saying, "Our community lost a public servant, my family lost our protector, and I lost my best friend." These words reflect the profound impact K9 Heiko had on everyone who knew him. Following his retirement in 2023, K9 Heiko continued to be a beloved guardian and companion until his final days, receiving the respect and care he so deeply deserved. K9 Heiko received a full law enforcement escort to Young Pet Crematorium, a moving moment of recognition for his devoted service. His memory will live on as a symbol of bravery, dedication, and the unconditional love that K9s bring into our lives. We extend our deepest condolences to Justin Reeves, his family, and the Marysville community as they grieve this tremendous loss.
