Kunafa with sugar syrup and vanilla ice cream For the syrup 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water For Kunafa 400 g kataifi dough 1 cup melted butter Half cup mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup crushed pistachios Instructions For syrup In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar on high heat. Allow it to come to a boil Once it boils, lower heat to medium and allow it to simmer for 10 minutes then turn off the heat. It should have a runny syrup consistency (not too thick). For the Kunafa In a mixing bowl add Kataifi dough and melted butter mix until well combined. Grease the baking pan from melted butter and transfer half of the kataifi dough to the pan use your hands or something flat-bottomed to spread and level out the layer. Add the cheese, spreading evenly. You can either add slices of mozzarella or shred it. Add the remaining dough and level it, pressing lightly. Transfer the baking pan to the center rack in your oven and bake for 45-60 minutes until the kunafa is a deep golden-brown color. Once ready, remove the pastry from the oven and immediately pour the syrup over it. Top with vanilla ice cream. Drizzle caramel sauce on top. Finally, top the pastry with ground pistachios, slice, and serve while still warm #kunafa #kunafarecipe #kunafah #Recipe
