Using breathwork, such as box breathing, can help calm this anxiety by tapping into your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxing your body after periods of stress. By focusing on controlled, deep breathing in a rhythmic pattern—inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold again for 4—you slow down your heart rate, lower blood pressure, and help your mind shift out of the fight-or-flight response.
