I had a bad feeling this morning, that went beyond my usual paranoia about anesthesia. Two weeks of intermittent diarrhea can be very depleting. I tried to put him back on his prescription food a couple days ago, to see if that would stop it without making him vomit, but nah. I discussed my concerns with the tech at drop off, but she said he should be fine. I had just started walking up the driveway when the vet called to call me back to say that in addition to the weight loss, his gums were a little pale, and his skin was tenting just a little bit. She suggested they do IV fluids while he was there, but said just doing subQ today and tomorrow would be fine. I’ll feed him boiled chicken for a while, then start mixing the Fromm’s food she recommended with good old Fancy Feast, which he loves and tolerates well. It’s just that his poops are pale when he eats that now, which means he’s not properly digesting it all the way. She did a new set of labs, and they still look just fine. She was worried his kidney levels might have spiked, but they’re still just slightly elevated.
