Our science curriculum has us ask our first graders to "think back to your last vacation you took to the ocean". They're 6 and mostly poor. Let's not.

In my experience (30 years in education) all material is NOT proof read. Mistakes in textbooks were all over the place and the companies didn’t care.

Our vetted curriculum is still based on Lucy Calkins🤢 and includes FandP type assessments.

🙋🏼♀️my district has “vetted” curriculum… it does not align with the exams, there’s no evidence of backward planning, and half the time it is just wrong bc the person making it is not a specialist

“Poor instruction” right in the comment. Thats not the fault of a resource or boxed curriculum. The effectiveness of the teacher is the number ONE factor to student success. Part of good teaching is

My district purchased a formal curriculum that is used across the country and it’s riddled with typos

We haven’t had a true ELA curriculum for 5 years 🤪 We have to either piecemeal stuff together ourselves or use tpt stuff

One of the things I like best about TPT Is that many teachers have created additional materials aligned with scripted or otherwise pre-made curriculums, and so you know immediately if it's quality in terms of standards etc, and it's such a nice way to have additional classwork, etc, with these programs

Sometimes the district doesn’t buy curriculum. Sometimes the curriculum they buy doesn’t have enough material and we have to find more.

I don’t love my schools curriculums, but I only use TPT for more fun/holiday/seasonal things. I look to my curriculums first for any extra academic resources that I need. Why reinvent the wheel when it’s already there for you?! Especially for math because our curriculum literally comes with daily workbook pages already printed!!

Vetted curriculum isn’t good. Except for UFLI! But that is on the teacher. If you buy something that ends up being not great, then you don’t use it.

My kids and I joke that Amplify should send me a paycheck for how many errors I find in their ELA curriculum

I find regular errors in the thousand dollar curriculum that also only works sometimes. I've found significantly better materials on TPT from other actual sped teachers. 🤷

I just had to give a test from a vetted curriculum where the correct answers to “circle 3 things omnivores eat” were beans, grass, and crocodile so…
