Our beautiful, fierce, irreplaceable Luce crossed the rainbow bridge, and life hasn’t felt the same since. How do you put into words the kind of love that changes you? Luce wasn’t just a cat. She was a force, a survivor, a warrior who carried the weight of a hard past but still chose love. She had the scars of a fighter, the wisdom of an old soul, and a meow that was as crunchy as it was iconic. She was stubborn, opinionated, demanding… and she was perfect. We knew time was not on our side. We knew her body had fought too many battles, squamous cell cancer, late-stage kidney disease, but Luce never let on how much weight she carried. She lived with grace, with fire, with a spirit too strong to dim. Even in her final moments, she gave no warning. That morning, she lay in her favorite bed, skipping breakfast like she sometimes did. She stretched, settled in, and closed her eyes. Then, in a moment that still haunts us, Tatyana saw it first, that something was wrong. She screamed for me, and in those few seconds, our lives changed forever. We rushed her to the vet, our hearts pounding, refusing to believe this was it, but we couldn’t bring her back. Luce was so much more than her past. She was love. She was family. And even though she is gone, the love she left behind is too big to ever disappear. She lives in the echoes of her meow, in the warmth of the memories she gave us, and in the hearts of everyone who saw her for who she really was, a beautiful, wild, incredible soul who only ever wanted to be loved.
