I prefer to walk the first bit of the hike along the river.  Exit the river area and then reenter at 0.7 miles.  You can walk along the river for another 1/2 mile 2. If you feel comfortable going down the steep slope at the river gorge, it’s worth it!  Great place for a picnic 3. If you enjoy rock scrambling, head all the way back.  The entry, which requires scrambling of 5-8 foot sections, is mostly on the right 4. If you get to the back of Little Yosemite, head out via the cave.  There is poison oak to avoid (wear long sleeves and ideally gloves) 5. Walk upstream a bit to “dryly” cross Alameda creek 6. Go 0.5 miles further on Ohlone Rd to find the unique “W” tree. 7.
