I'm a little confused; I last visited in 2008, but I remember the female sculptures (and the preserved original in the Imaginarium) having different faces than in the film. Am I misremembering...?

The crystal palace for the 1851 fair is a fixation of mine - totally humongous events center they just tore down afterwards, moved around a few times and demolished 80 years later

as an engineer, there's no conspiracy here, early 20th century buildings were weak and hazardous, both for fire and earthquake. they needed to be rebuilt with modern engineering.

I worked on the mansion built by the woman who donated the funds for the palace of fine arts. It was incredibly beautiful.

I didn’t realize the rotunda was a permanent reconstruction. That’s fantastic. I’m glad they did that, it’s gorgeous.
