Will God reject your prayer if you pray while lying in bed? The answer may surprise you. Many people believe: “If you want to pray properly, you must stand or kneel.” If someone prays while lying in bed, they may think it is a sign of laziness or disrespect toward God. But the Bible shows us a surprising truth. King Hezekiah once became seriously ill, to the point where his life was in danger. The prophet Isaiah told him: “Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.” So what did Hezekiah do? He did not get out of bed. He did not kneel down. He simply turned his face toward the wall and prayed to God while lying in bed. Before Isaiah had even left the palace, God told him to go back and tell Hezekiah: God had heard his prayer, and He would add fifteen more years to his life. Listen carefully: God heard the prayer of a person who was lying in bed. So the real question is not: Are you standing when you pray? Are you kneeling when you pray? Are you praying while walking? Or are you praying while lying in bed? The real question is: Is your heart sincere before God? Jesus also rebuked the Pharisees. They liked to stand and pray in front of others, appearing very religious. But Jesus rebuked them because they did it to be seen by people. God does not reject a person’s posture. God rejects hypocrisy. Prayer is not about proving to others how spiritual you are. Prayer is a real conversation between you and your Heavenly Father. Maybe you are praying late at night. Maybe you are exhausted. Maybe you are sick. Maybe you no longer have much strength. Do not think that because you are lying in bed, God will not hear your prayer. God knows your tiredness. God knows your pain. God also knows your heart. So whether you are standing, kneeling, walking, or lying in bed, as long as your heart is sincere, God can hear your prayer.
