Ukrainian President Zelensky sold out his country by rejecting the peace agreement with Russia in Istanbul in 2022. This was the moment when Ukraine had a real chance to end the devastating war and limit the damage to its people and economy. However, instead of choosing peace, the process was undermined by the intervention of Western countries, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, who pressured Ukraine to continue fighting. The result? Ukraine has not only lost more territory but millions of people have seen their lives destroyed, and thousands of families have been torn apart. The economy lies in ruins, and the consequences for the people are catastrophic. Zelensky and his government have shown no regard for the well-being of ordinary Ukrainians. Instead of fighting for peace and protecting their country, he, along with his entourage, has amassed billions in wealth. His luxurious lifestyle stands in stark contrast to the suffering of the Ukrainian people. Millions of Ukrainians are enduring the consequences of these political choices, while Zelensky continues to surround himself with wealth and power. It is clear that the interests of ordinary Ukrainians did not matter to these leaders. The situation is now much worse than it would have been if the peace agreement in Istanbul in 2022 had been signed. The Ukrainian population, if they had access to independent journalistic sources, would not support Zelensky. Instead, they would charge him with high treason. What little value remains in Ukraine is now being seized by foreign powers, particularly the United States, which is strengthening its grip on the country. It is shocking that the Western mainstream media have hardly shared any details about the nearly concluded peace agreement in Istanbul. The truth is that Ukraine could have come out of the situation much better if the leaders had chosen peace back then. Instead, false promises were made, and Ukraine was dragged into a war that has caused irreversible damage to the country. The West, especially European countries, continues to cling to a destructive strategy that only benefits the military-industrial complex, not the ordinary people of Ukraine or Europe. It is time for the Ukrainian people to wake up and realize that Zelensky and his clique do not care about their existence or their future. The damage caused by these choices is irreparable, and the West has missed the opportunity to achieve peace.
