This is exactly what happened after yangchen's era and how kuruk suffered until his last breath. The contracts and pacts between humans and spirits overseen by yangchen was broken by humans(who would've thought) and kuruk had to deal with the dark spirits that went berserk because of human greed, leading to his very very very painful death
