It’s not so much about pay it’s the fact this Democratic Party love to protect their criminals. There’s no repercussions. When I worked corrections I had inmates tell me myself that they were afraid of COs and kept their heads down and never thought of hurting one. They knew repercussions would happen.

I'm retired from a NY max prison after an inmate assault. Mandatory OT everyday for years, HALT Act, inmates are never charged by NY for assaults on staff or other inmates, and the list goes on...

It’s almost like prisoners should be in solitary confinement. Deliver food, let outside on cycles (3-5 at a time). Deliver books, let them have tv’s (restricted shows). Stop letting them form gangs.

I have a buddy who’s a CO in NY he says the prisoners are running the facilities because of Hochels soft on crime policies and they were forced to work 24-36hr shifts it’s a disgrace

Being a retired corrections officer of NYS , the halt law has caused most of the retirements or resignations in the department.It’s not ever been about money! Working conditions are terrible !

I run into these guys at the local ER all the time and they'll be on hour 16, waiting for relief, then a 2 hour drive back, just to report back the next morning. their OT mandates are crazy
