A month later, Joanne found Tylar hiding in Culver's closet and kicked him out. Joanne threatened to report Culver, but Tylar convinced her not to by promising to stop seeing him. However, Tylar continued to see Culver secretly. Joanne eventually found Tylar's diary and turned it over to the police. Detectives questioned Culver, but he denied any wrongdoing. After talking to the police, Joanne took Tylar out to dinner and told her that Culver might face legal trouble soon. Tylar was devastated by the news and felt trapped. She and Culver began discussing drastic measures to prevent him from going to jail. On June 12, 2009, Tylar and Culver carried out a plan to harm Joanne. They were both arrested shortly after and charged with her m*rder. Tylar was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, while Culver received life without parole.
