Healthcare in the US it’s not free. It can cost $150 just for a doctors note. That alone is why there should be no doctors note policies.

Same issues with schools. Have to have Dr note for it to be excused. Even for a stomach bug. Ridiculous

i work somewhere that you have to provide a sick note if you miss more than 7 work days. I think it's pretty reasonable. if you're sick for that long you probably should go to the doctor

Agreed! My only caveat would be if the employee appeared to be abusing sick leave or leave without pay because they used all their sick time.

I work in leave mgmt. Makes no sense for an employer to ask for sick note when they don’t have good insurance AND pay low wages!!!

My old job was third shift. your first day of calling off was a point, but if you got a note saying not to come in you didn't get a point for the next days. I asked what if I get a note before work--

I had a friend who had to go to urgent care to get an antigen test during covid to prove she had Covid. She spent like $100 because her boss didn’t accept a home test 🙄

During covid they started doing online consultations for sick notes from the so called “house doctor” (kinda like family med) and I think that was a very smart move. People can prove theyre sick buy

My job has it to where you have sick days, vacation days, and a "bank" of 80 hours. Anytime you're late, or absent, if it's not covered by sick time/vaca it comes from the "bank"

Its worse in the restaurant industry. We work sick around food cuz we cant afford to take time off AND we dont have health coverage through work so some people go w/o.

Okay if no sick notes are accepted usually it's a point based attendance system. those are no better and penalize employees for any time they are sick.
