@affinitysilverworks: This is a Palais Royal seal wheel from the early 1800s. “Palais Royal” refers to its origin— during this time, part of the Royal palace in Paris was converted into a market for artisans and entertainers and restauranteurs. Like an early shopping mall where you could get elegant goods like this seal wheel. I have quite a few mourning seals like this in my collection. It was a time period when mourning a loved one involved a public display; you were expected to dress and behave differently, and people often commissioned special jewelry to remember their loved ones. We obviously don’t adhere those practices anymore, but we all still know the feeling of craving a physical token to remember someone that’s no longer there. These pendants will be released on March, along with many other pieces ❤️
