@theadventureaddicts: well… this is a splitboard!! When we first started talking about backcountry skiing, I didn’t know much about how to do it as a snowboarder. It seems like it’s a wildly popular sport for skiers, and I actually learned how to ski at first to be able to buy a cheaper backcountry setup. But, snowboarding is way more fun for me, and I wanted to be able to snowboard the lines we were skiing. Enter: my splitboard This is the Telos lumerian split with the @telossnowboards skins and @Burton Snowboards hitchhiker bindings. And this setup has allowed me to backcountry snowboard with Zoe, who backcountry skis. It’s basically a regular snowboard just split in half, so it rides a little more flexible than a regular snowboard, but all things considered, it’s pretty amazing what it can do. We hike uphill with the skins on the bases, tear them off at the top, put the board back together, and we’re ready to go down. If you’re thinking about getting into the backcountry, you also need to get some other things besides a splitboard!! This includes avy rescue gear and an education on how to do this safely!
