I wouldn’t mind this, but I would do one thing differently. I would have put the kids in the bedroom and myself out in the living room area because I probably wouldn’t be going to bed as early as kids

I think the concern is more that the living room has access to the entry/exit door. Meaning you are not in between your kids and any outside danger coming through the door.

My husband and I have a trifold bed that we set up each night in the living room. Our youngest two still end up with us each night but they have their room with their beds and their toys.
