Animal studies show they can travel through the body, potentially impacting fertility, immune function, and neurological health. Microplastics have been found to cause oxidative stress and damage in mouse granulosa cells, which surround developing eggs. While no direct link to fertility outcomes was found, their presence in reproductive tissues urges further research into how they might affect egg quality and long-term fertility.
