Coming from someone who was there and still has friends there most Ukrainian soldiers do want peace, but not on Putin’s terms. They have lost too much to simply concede to Russia’s demands, especially when such a deal would offer little benefit to Ukraine. While it is true that the war is driven by warmongering elites, Putin himself is no different as he is a power hungry leader seeking control over Ukraine and its resources. In the end, it is the ordinary Ukrainian people who suffer the most, caught in the middle of a geopolitical struggle between the West and Russia.
