Should have marked the nut to the shaft for retightening. Crush sleeve. Could have changed the pinion depth

I guess no one taught them to clean the area before seal removal to prevent foreign matter from being introduced. Drain, flush. refill required now.

They have an installation tool to drive the seal in. From my experience a hammer distorts the seal and can cause it to leak.
