![Reposted from @thelegendsofmusic Kiss playing “God of Thunder” Live in Tokyo in 1977 This right here is Gene Simmons signature track, but in reality it was written by Paul Stanley who had written it as a much more uptempo number about him being the “God Of Thunder” and Rock and Roll. When Paul debuted this song to their producer Bob Ezrin during the songwriting sessions for “Destroyer”, the producer liked it so much that he asked Gene Simmons to sing it. The original demo of this song was a much more uptempo affair, but on the final record the song is much slower, plodding, and menacing. Here’s an interesting piece of trivia about the song. The odd noises in the background are producer Bob Ezrin’s kids, David and Josh, who he recorded making spooky noises through a cheap walkie-talkie set. Three years earlier, Ezrin used the boys on the Lou Reed song “The Kids.” Ace Frehley was the lead guitarist in Kiss at this time.
