If I ever have my mortgage paid off, that will lower my overall stress, and lower stress leads to a longer life. Can the extra 5% on investments increase my lifespan? Probably not.

great balanced advice, and exactly what I'm doing now. mortgage is 3.3% - he'll even a cash ISA gets more than that, no point in overpaying at least until the minimum term is off, then lump sum it

Nope when mortgage rates are high paying off your mortgage is better than investing fact ! Lower rates overpaying investments are better.
