I agree with you. When gen 5 came out, I did not like the design. I played it and was eh with it but the story was amazing. And then part 2 came out, I loved it

Gen 5 was my first and I was 10, I’ve always loved gen 5s designs but the story and the sound track were cherry on the cake. B/W2 team plasma was my favorite lol
